Mission:
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 10/25
Location: USS Capernum
Timeline: current/somewhere in between
ON:
After having called his department heads to the conference table in the Ready Room, Captain Sean Loewen eased back in his chair at the head of the table and waited while reading reports from various sources, some not even concerning Capernum directly, but concerning the UFP and Starfleet.
After making sure that Sickbay was prepared for the Baryon Sweep, Len Loewen received the message for department heads to meet in the Ready Room. She heads to the turbolift and gets out at the Bridge, before heading to the Ready Room. The doors open as she approached, allowing her inside. She went to the replicator and got one glass of water and one glass of unsweetened ice tea, then walked to the conference table. She set the ice tea down in front of Sean before taking a seat. She takes a sip of her water before setting it down on the table. She took one a PADD out of her lab coat and started reading, one hand absently holding her abdomen.

Isabelle was sitting in her office feet up resting when the call to attend the Capernum meeting. It had come as a surprise as she hadn’t been off station aboard the Capernum as of late even though she was listed as Counsellor for the ship. Picking up a PaDD she got up from her seat, and headed across to the Capernum.

A little while later Isabelle walked into the Ready Room, offering those present a warm smile as she headed across to a seat and sat down, any chance to take the weight off her feet and back was much appreciated.
Seeing his people begin to roll in, Captain Loewen gave a nod of thanks to his wife as she placed the iced tea before him. "Good to see you, Isabelle. I hope all is well with your pregnancy?" Even as he asked this T'Pri entered and found a seat next to Lt. Veran-Dallas.
Isabelle offered a warm smile and nod of her head. “Everything is just fine, thank you Captain.”
The next two to arrive were Sheyla and Resch, each going to their respective seats. Sheyla sat down in her XO chair to the right of the Captain. "Hello, everyone. Been a while since we did this. Good to see you all."
"Good to see you as well Sheyla." Len said with smile.
Seeing the two pregnant women in the Ready Room, T'Pri spoke up. "Lt. Veran-Dallas, Doctor Loewen, if you would like I can introduce you to Vulcan neuropressure massage. It will benefit your lumbar regions greatly, while pregnant."
Len looked over at T'Pri, "That would be great, thank you."
“Anything to relieve the ache in my spine” Isabelle grinned. “Thank you for the offer.”
Deciding to be more open, and one who knew she had emotions she had to control daily, T'Pri responded as that being. "It is my pleasure to assist you. A healthy mother free of anxiety produces well-adjusted offspring since emotions can be felt by the fetus at all times."
Captain Loewen sipped his iced tea, wondering if both pregnant women knew that Vulcan neuro-pressure was done in the nude, to better accommodate the hands massaging in reaching the knotted up muscles and chakra points. Sean decided not to mention it so they could experience all that for themselves.
Lt. JG Ken Kudo entered the Ready Room, taking a seat next to Len. He reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder as he sat down. "How you doing, Len?"
Len smiled at Ken. "I get a little morning sickness, but it's manageable. How are you?"
Kudo had a broad smile on his face as he leaned back in his chair. "I get weeks around my family, my Doctor, my friend, so I'm on cloud nine." His face turned towards Veran-Dallas. "Counselor, Isabelle, how are you progressing? Ever since Captain Kudo had our daughter I feel obligated to ask." His smile remained friendly, showing he was actually concerned for them both.
Isabelle offered a warm smile as she looked towards Kudo. “I’m doing very well, thank you. 29 weeks and counting down to my due date now.”
"I am thrilled for you both," Kudo said with that same warm smile.
“Thank you” Isabelle smiled warmly.
As Nora enter she saw quite a few that have arrived already hoping she wasn’t the last to arrive. She greeted everyone present with a gentile nod of her head and hurried to a free seat.
Lieutenant Bob Covenant nodded as he saw Isabella given she was a family friend.
"Hello Counselor." Bob greeted.
Isabelle smiled warmly seeing Bob. “Hello Bob, good to see you.”
" No disrespect. I am glad I only see you at these functions." Bob joked.
“No offence taken” Isabelle grinned. “The feeling is mutual.”
" That attack was something else. I heard there are a lot of casualties?" Bob added.
"They came prepared, for sure," Loewen said in response to Bob's statement. "Their folly was thinking we were unprepared. From the latest reports we've received the casualty lists continue to grow. I'm sure we won't know exactly how many for at least another week." Best to be up front with his crew.
Lt Bob Covenant had been aboard the ship for some time and had been aboard the station even before that . He was excited for the future mission but also hoped the station had enough help.
Sean then looked to Nora Ejo, having seen her enter as the others were chatting. "I know you've been busy lately, Nora, what with all the changes coming about. Capernum is lucky to have you. Which brings me to the reason we're here. Capernum has to undergo a Baryon sweep to prepare the ship for the swapping out of our warp drive for a Quantum Slipstream drive. This needs to be addressed for anyone not familiar with the Baryon sweep. It will annihilate almost everything organic, and will kill anything organic and alive. Which means we all have to see to moving all organics off the ship. Any plants, animals, or various personal items that may be affected by such a field sweep." After glancing at all eyes, he then looked to Sheyla. "Number One."
"Thank you, Sir," Sheyla said. "We have two freighters that will come alongside Capernum and store our organics for us. They know that the station cannot handle all that while it is damaged and dealing with its own problems. Lieutenant Lasso set it up through the Merchant Club, Saints of Bliss. This way, Capernum can also house anyone needing to be removed from M-69 until the ship is called by Captain Kingston for the refit. Aside from that, and with the living areas on M-69 not suffering too much damage, we can be housed on M-69 during the drive swap. That will put all of us on site to assist with damage control and repairs."
After Sheyla nodded at Sean, he looked to his crew. "Any questions or concerns, now is the time to toss them out for any clarifications."
Len shook her head slightly, not having any questions or concerns.
Isabelle also shook her head, she understood and had no concerns.
“Would I be assisting on the exchange of the drive? Ejo asked.
"Absolutely, Commander," Loewen responded immediately, giving a grin. "Do what you do best for us if that is the choice you make. Being there when it is installed gives you a hand up in how it will function and how to take care of it."
Kudo smiled at Ejo. "Nora, just say the word and I'll be right there next to you."
Ejo noded "I would like for you to join me Lt. Kudo. It would be great opportunity to experience the fitting of the new Drive, to get know it and join in with the installation". She beam with a big grin in her face.
Kudo gave her a nod and grin. The Captain, seeing no further additions to his directives, adjourned the meeting. As people began to stand Commander Sheyla added one more thing.
"If you decide to aid in duties with the station," Sheyla offered. "Please, note it in your duty logs. This way I can give you credit for any work done off the ship. Thank you." (this means if you post helping on the station, without actually having to say it, it is assumed each of us made such a notation).
Loewen Gave the final dismissal and everyone left the Ready Room.
