::ON::

[Shuttle Genesis]

Ensign Barot was in the Pilot's seat as they approached the tachyon beam "Commander we're going to need to fly right under the beam in order to make it through safely; I have the shields enabled for extra protection" Sam informed the Commander.

Turning her head "Do whatever you need to do to get us there safely and in one piece" Angel ordered with a smile.

"As you wish Commander but the ride may get a little bumpy at times" Sam replied keeping an eye on her readings.

Several minutes later "Shields are now at seventy five percent" the Computer stated.

"Crap, that's not good not yet" Sam thought out loud "Computer adjust the shield harmonics to allow for the minimum loss of Shields."

"Adjustment initiated" then several minutes later "Shields are now at eighty percent" the Computer announced.

Glancing over at Devroe "Now that I can live with" Sam stated with a grin.

"Good thinking Ensign; I knew your experience would come in handy" Commander Devroe replied with a grin.

[Twenty Minutes Later]

"We'll be entering their upper atmosphere momentarily; now it could get bumpy" the Ensign stated while focused on her readings.

"Lieutenant open ship wide please" Albo did as ordered "Attention Crew, strap yourselves in we may be in for a bumpy ride for a few minutes" she ordered.

Lieutenant Flannery turned to Sarissa "This is what I hate about small ships, they tend to bounce around as opposed to a Star Ship" he commented with a grin.

Sarissa nodded. “I know the feeling, but I have faith in our pilot she knows what she’s doing.” She smiled warmly.

Suddenly the Genesis started bouncing around as Barot's hands flew across her screen "I've made some adjustments to the internal dampeners, that should smoothen things out somewhat" she stated just before the Shuttle settled down "Ok we're entering their atmosphere....coordinates laid in for the Shielding Complex; we'll be setting down in a few minutes."

[Altos IV Surface]

With a smile "Excellent flying Ensign" Devroe commented impressed with Sam's skills. Moments later the shuttle settled onto the surface.

"Thanks Boss" Sam replied with a chuckle "I'm placing all systems on standby in case we need to access something quickly."

"Mr. Albo hail the Peel" Devroe ordered. Moments later she received a head nod from Johan "Captain O'Connell, Commander Devroe, we're on the surface now and Engineering will depart the Shuttle momentarily."

[Good Commander, keep me apprised of your progress] Captain O'Connell stated.

"Of course Captain, Devroe out." Looking towards Johan "Mr. Albo contact Mr. Prell."

"As you wish Commander.....link established" Albo replied.

"Mr. Prell this is Commander Devroe. We've touched down on your surface and will be departing the Shuttle momentarily; please meet us in your Complex and we'll get started."

" Captain I am afraid I am stuck in my office...on a respirator....this heat has damaged...my lungs." Prell replied. " I will send my aide Vel Jemsyn."

"Sorry to hear that Mr. Prell, please rest and we'll have the Shield down soon and let the heat dissipate quickly; that should be a welcome relief to everyone" Angel stated with some concern "We're ready to exit the Shuttle and will be to Mr. Jemsyn shortly. Devroe out." Glancing over at Samantha "Keep the motor running in case we need to access something. Lieutenant Albo wait here until we get the Shield down then you and the Counselor can make your way to the Medical Complex" came the orders.

Sarissa nodded and gave Johan a smile. Any chance to spend time together whether on a mission or not.

Walking back to the living area "Mr. Flannery you and your Team please follow me; it's time to get these people some relief from the heat" Devroe ordered.

"You lead Commander and we'll follow" Marcus replied with a grin.

Exiting the Shuttle "Damn it's hot here; we definitely need to get those shields down and quick" Flannery stated as they entered the Engineering Complex. Seeing a gentleman standing in official looking garb "Mr. Jemsyn, I'm Commander Devroe from the Peel, please show us where the controls are for the shielding and we'll get to work."

" Bless the makers we are so glad to see you. Follow me." Jemsyn said leading downward into a catacombs of darkness then opening into a room of computers and reactors. " The main control has a shield barrier that won't allow us to pass. One of the staff got a shock and almost died."

"Thank you Jemsyn, my Engineers will get to work immediately to get the Shield down as quickly as possible" Commander Devroe replied with a smile "So how is Mr. Prell doing; he said he wasn't breathing to well from all this heat."

" The heat aggrivated his asthma. He is on oxygen. I blame myself. I sponsored the Shield idea. I even negotiated with the Ferengi Engineers. They had the lowest price. It was them or a Tellarite that bidded for the job. I pushed to save the money. Governor Prell wanted the Tellarites to install the shield. The council voted for the cheaper bid. I guess you get what you pay for." Jemsyn confessed.

"In this case it would seem so but I wouldn't dwell on it. Hopefully by the time my Engineers are finished everything should be back to normal" Devroe commented trying to ease his grief.

Turning to Marcus "So Lieutenant what do you think; can this be resolved somewhat quickly" Devroe inquired.

"I'll give it my best shot but first I have to get down that forcefield to even get to the controls" he replied "And why the hell would somebody enable a forcefield to prevent getting to the controls; doesn't make sense."

Thinking a moment "Actually it makes perfect sense if you're a Ferengi; that forces these people to use their services thereby giving them more profit" Angel replied with a grin.

"I knew there was a reason why I don't like Ferengi; greedy bastards" he replied "Ok, let me get this forcefield down so we can cut the power to the Shields then I'll worry about correcting the problem."

"Sounds like a plan Lieutenant and please keep me apprised of your progress. I'm going to return to the Genesis and check in with the Captain, I'll return soon" Devroe commented then turned and left the area.

[Genesis]

Walking back aboard Angel made her way to the Bridge "Lieutenant Albo get me the Captain" she ordered.

"On it Commander" Johan replied rather liking this new arrangement of a small Crew.

"Captain, Devroe, Mr. Flannery and his Team are in the their Engineering Complex; it would seem when the Ferengi installed the system they also put in a forcefield in front of the controls preventing anyone but themselves access. Marcus is working on taking it down even as we speak" she informed Jamie.

[With a laugh "Yup a typical Ferengi move alright. Hopefully he's successful soon so he can take down those Shields] the Captain replied [Keep me posted].

"Will do Captain, Devroe out" then turning to Sam "I'm heading back to the Complex if you should need me." then Angel left the shuttle.

[Surface]

An intense energy dome covered parts of the small city fed by the planets core energy as the effects of the global warming intensified. On the streets lay dead or dying people's and animals who had been unable to go inside.

Commander Devroe reentered the catacombs and made her way to the Control Center only to see Marcus inside the room. Walking over "Lieutenant I see you were able to take down the forcefield already" she stated with a smile.

Turning "Yes, it wasn't all that difficult once I found the conduit then followed it back to a control box. Then I was able to use my special key to open it and take down the forcefield" he explained rather proud of himself.

Looking a little confused "A special key? Where in the world did you find that" Devroe inquired.

Marcus just grinned "Why I carry it with me when I'm on away missions" as he showed his phaser.

With a chuckle "I see....nice move Mr Flannery. So how long before you can interrupt the shielding.....things are getting pretty ugly out there" Devroe commented.

"Almost there Commander" he replied then walked over to another locked box....pulled out his phaser.....made some adjustments then fired. Moments later the door flew open then he reached inside and gave a large relay a hard yank "There shields are finally down" as you could hear a distant 'roar' as the massive amount of heat was leaving the planets surface all at once.

"Great job Lieutenant; I'm going back up to the surface and see how much cooler it is" as the Commander turned and headed upwards.

[Peel]

Sitting and talking with Lieutenant SanChez, the Captain looked up seeing something massive coming towards the Ship "Shields up.....brace for impact!!" he called out "Lieutenant Sayvek report."

With out warning a blast of energy from the planets surface shot upwards as the geothermal energies had been so quickly powered down.

" Scanning a massive build up of Volcanic Energy emerging from the planets surface." Sayvek reported.
