OOC: Too often, in every Trek series, there were episodes that were just silly and fantastical for the sake of being silly and fantastical. Then, in TNG we got introduced to Q, who loved to muck with Picard and his crew. His morality tests were often quite funny, and from a Trek perspective, ultra silly. But, that's what made it Trek. So, with that in mind I have introduced some silly, due to a Q, and added it in for the fun of it. If nothing else, I hope you at least find it entertaining even with the silliness of what is written. It will be a mix of THEN and NOW mish-mashed together. Thanks, Sean.

ON:

Captain Ro Kudo and her daughter Yui Kudo had secured the Tvaro-class warbird. Every Reman aboard was now dead; every-single-one. As Qeritas told Yui, not one cult member could be allowed to live or they would simply try again to create some abomination of desolation. Their knowledge in Eldritch Magick, alchemy, genetics and so forth was far too dangerous to be allowed to continue. All of these areas of expertise having been given them by the Q who had turned against the Continuum and tried to become a hybrid between energy and organic matter; Grezhok.

Yui stood near to her mother at the front of the Bridge, the helm station. "Mom, we have to finish this."

Ro looked around at all the dead Remans, most of them killed by the 'gift' that Yui had asked for from Qeritas. When Yui had first used the Gojira breath against a party of Remans, Ro thought she was going to explode. There was a steady, resounding whum-whum-whum sound as she built up the first initial charge of the plasma radiation breath she would discharge. But, even as Ro watched her build it up she noted that Yui's fingernails, eyes, and hair began to glow a bright blue-white exactly as depicted in Gojira films. Also, as it built, Gojira-like spines had grown out of her back, starting in the lumbar region as they grew and glowed with the power charge, her skin morphing into armor plating to match that of Gojira. In between the plates covering her exposed skin the lightning glow could be seen, the back spines having grown all the way up to the nape of her neck. The Remans were terrified, frozen in place as they watched this mere Human transform into what, in their minds, was a demon. Then, she had let loose. The spines had started at Yui's lumbar region, but they did not only grow up her spine, but Yui sprouted a tail, with the same spines, again matching Gojira.

Yui had swept her Gojira breath across the impulse engineering section of the Romulan ship, with stations, consoles and two of the four fusion reactors damaged beyond function, with any Remans caught in the breath blast being immediately disintegrated to ash if hit directly. She had not held back, doing enough damage to secure the ship and terminate its occupants. After the breath was shut down her body remained in the state it was in as a Gojira-like being. Any weapon blasts that struck her armored body would explode as they impacted, causing Yui to groan and roar in pain, but her scale armor held even as it was damaged. The two droids, Kami and Cosmo, moved in to take control of ship systems, locking out the rest of the ship and re-routing all systems. After that, it had been a walk in the park, with mother and daughter fighting together to reach the Bridge and Viceroy Malikh. Yui and her blue-white plasma breath matched by her mother's blue-white blade slicing and dicing. Yui even gave a roar of challenge a few times upon seeing enemies, and again she had to grin as it sounded just like Gojira, although far smaller. More like the roar of a lion with the audio of Godzilla. When she had asked Yui how she could do that her daughter told her it was a gift she had asked for from Qeritas, although she did not expect it to quite reach this level. All Ro said in return was; "That's what you get for asking Qeritas for a favor. She gives it to you her way."

"Well, I hope I won't remain this lizard man thing," Yui replied, looking at her hands and arms, covered in scale armored hide, sharp claws for fingernails with spiked spines on her forearms for defense, and a tail that she as becoming quite good at manipulating during a fight. "I did ask Q to allow me to use it instinctually. All of the 'gift'. Guess I got what I asked for?"

Ro gave her a cynical expression. "Pretty much. You wanted it your way, you got it her way. No leaning back in the furniture when we get home, okay?"

Yui gave a cynical expression in return. "Mom, you're not funny."

Upon reaching the Bridge Ro had used the Force to push the door open, stepping through ahead of Yui as her bladed twirled around and deflected shots at herself and Yui. Coming in behind her mother, Yui was charged for her breath weapon having used it several times already.

"It's the Demon, Viceroy!" A Reman shouted in fear.

Her spines lighting up much faster than previous, Yui let go another blast, her face sweeping from one side of the Bridge to the other with consoles, chairs, and anything else mechanical in nature suffering extensive heat and radiation damage, the plasma melting alloys and metals as it blasted them. Any organic matter was turned to ash instantly, namely the Remans trying to protect their Viceroy. For his part, Malikh ran away from the blast stream, from one side of the Bridge to the other, ending up huddled together with a handful of his cult. Yui stopped the blast, giving a cough of energy particles and smacking her lips. "Spicy."

Ro rolled her eyes even as she strode forward to confront the Remans who were left. "Normally, Malikh, I would give you a chance to surrender but, that is not my goal here today. You and your cult must be eradicated, permanently." Yui came alongside her mother, still the lizard-hominid, her eyes still slightly aglow as were her claws and her hair and some spaces between the scale armor. They all knew she was ready to use her demon breath once more as she stood a meter apart from The One.

Sub-Commander Likhon, a true zealot, charged towards Ro with his blade raised to engage in combat. Yui spun in place, her tail coming up and whipping the Reman in the torso as she completed her spin, sending the man careening through the air to slam into the forward viewport before crashing to the floor. Seeing this, Yui ran over and grabbed him around the neck to pull him up to his knees. One hand grabbed his skull and clamped down to hold him still, the hand around his neck moving to his jaw as she forced it open hard enough everyone could hear the jaw break, making him look like a reticulated python. The plasma threat display fired up quickly and then she blasted down into his body by way of his throat. Likhon was no more. Yui stood tall, ready for more combat as she looked the Viceroy in the eye, his followers dropping their weapons to surrender. "You took my mother, Malikh, but you did not take me."

"Wait!" Malikh responded. "You are the progeny?"

Ro was also standing ready, blade held down at her side but fully prepared to engage if these fools so much as twitched wrong. "What you seek is in her now, not me. Idiot."

"Mom, finish the sentries." Ro, without hesitation, cut them down. She could feel the Dark side enter her, but it was nothing that meditation and reflection could not undo.

Malikh had cowered back as the lightsaber dispatched his guards, now standing alone even as he raised his hands up defensively as Yui stepped forward looking as she had this whole time.

"It is amazing how your convictions crumble when you stand alone, Viceroy," Yui stated as she came to stand before him. "Your god is within me, Malikh. If you have any last requests before I destroy you, and him, speak them now."

Finding his courage again, Malikh stood tall, facing Yui and accepting his fate. "I die for Grezhok."

"Then he shall meet you in Hell!" Yui growled out, grabbing Malikh around his head and jaw, twisting quickly and snapping the vertebrae. As the legs went limp she let the corpse settle to its knees before she finished twisting and ripped the head from the shoulders. The body slumped the rest of the way and she dropped the head next to it. As it settled, Yui's appearance began to undo itself, getting her back to her normal.

Yui stood near to her mother at the front of the Bridge, the helm station. "Mom, we have to finish this."

"I'd say it's pretty much done, Yui." Ro deactivated her saber and hooked it to her waistband even a she said that, beginning to access the helm console that had not suffered any damage. "We have the ship, the cult is vanquished, so we can..."

Yui grabbed her mom's shoulder firmly and spun her mother to face her. "Mother, I'm still here. Grezhok is still within me. This can only end one way. You know this."

Ro felt anger, sorrow, fear, and a plethora of other emotions roiling around within herself. "No!" She said forcefully. "We'll find another way. There has to be another way."

Taking her mother's face into her hands, Yui got in close, her gaze meeting her mother's evenly. "The needs of the many, Mama. You are THE Meji master and, with that in mind, you know that what I am saying is true." She let go of her mom's face, now standing toe to toe. "If Grezhok is able to take over my flesh, thus becoming the hybrid he seeks, many more will die to defeat him. We can end it now, not take chances."

Ro's eyes flashed around the Bridge, not wanting to look at Yui because she knew she would lose it with breaking down crying. Again, she was going to lose a child. Again, she would feel that void within herself. Calling on The Force, and she promised herself this would be the last time she would ever use that power, Ro got herself under control so she could think clearly. Yui was right, this had to end here. However difficult it was to accept, Qeritas had told Yui that it needed to be done. No matter what, no matter what it cost. "How..." Ro had to clear her throat as it tried to clench up with a sob. "How do you propose we do this?"

Yui was having a difficult time herself with not crying but, she had promised the Q that she would do what was needed. "Have Cosmo launch an antimatter containment tank, full, out into space. Once it gets a safe distance away, enough to not take this ship with it, you beam me inside of it. The reaction of my matter coming in contact with the antimatter will cause an explosion and annihilate each other. Nor more Yui, no more Grezhok. Victory."

Stepping in, Ro hugged her daughter tightly. The tears were flowing but the sobbing was kept at bay. "I love you, daughter. I always will." Yui clung to mom as they embraced for a minute.

"We'll meet again, Mother. You know this. Keep your faith in that." Yui said this and then walked over to stand in front of the main viewport. "Please, mother, hurry before I lose my resolve."

Ro nodded and got to work, instructing Cosmo and Kami to launch the antimatter pod in a direction that would take it away from the ship and in the opposite direction of M-69. Soon enough she could track it on passive sensors. The cloaking field shimmered as the pod left the ship, with Ro locking into the center of the pod as the coordinates, waiting as the pod tumbled through space and away. When it reached a safe distance Ro looked to Yui. "Goodbye," was said, with Yui nodding as Ro hit the key to energize. Mere seconds later the antimatter pod exploded even as Ro collapsed to her knees and hung her head in heaving sobs.

"Wow," came a familiar female voice directly to Ro's right. "I'm impressed. She actually did it."

Ro jumped to her feet as quickly as her Augment body allowed, seeing Qeritas and swinging on her with all her strength in a left hook. The fist connected but it was like punching a marble statue, shattering every bone in her hand with the impact. Crying out in pain and stumbling back, Ro clutched her now useless hand. "Get out of my sight, Q!" Taking the lightsaber hilt from her waist she threw it at Q even as the omnipotent being let it slap against her torso and fall to the floor. "Take that with you! The Force, Cosmo, anything else; I want it all gone. This is the Milky Way, not the Pallean galaxy. Our destiny is not their destiny! After that comment I want nothing further to do with you. NOTHING!"

"I know you're emotional right now, Ro, but you don't truly mean that."

"I do!" Ro shouted back. "Truly! If I ever see you again I will make it my life's work to find a way to kill you, Q. Not Qeritas, Q. Qeritas was a friend, I don't know who you are except another omnipotent being who meddles where they shouldn't."

Around the outer edge of the Bridge several other humanoids began to appear, a dozen in total, all with various appearances. Vulcan, Human, Andorian, and so on. Ro's hand suddenly stopped hurting and she looked at it even as the bones aligned and mended, without even a smidge of pain, and finished healing. She noted that Qeritas suddenly looked uneasy, the Q's eyes darting around at what could only be, by her expression, familiar faces. "Why are you here?" Qeritas asked the new arrivals.

"Discipline," said a male figure in the form of a Human. "It seems you have overstepped, sister. You have ended Grezhok, for this we are thankful. Yet, you are now becoming what you have destroyed. We gave you leeway to do what was needed and you have turned that into your own personal crusade." The male Q looked to four others. "Go. Do as instructed." The four Q turned into white-gold balls of energy and flew through the hull of the ship and out into space, heading in the direction of where the pod had exploded. "Ro Kudo," The man turned towards her. "Our sincerest apologies for allowing our sister to overstep her instructions. All will be corrected. The entirety of the Q Continuum, aside from our sister, will now set all things right. As such, you and yours are now under the protection of the Continuum."

Ro, taken aback by all this, went to speak a few times in as many moments but, was only able to pop out a quick, "Thank you." Her mind was still trying to play catch-up. Qeritas was to be disciplined? What did that even mean? "What of Qeritas?"

"That is not your concern," the man said. "We deal with such matters among our own."

Despite how angry she had been after Qeritas had shown up and said what she said, Ro was still Ro. "I ask that you show mercy. As...frustrating as she can be at times, she is still a friend. She was only doing what she felt was right. You know that we organics make such mistakes all the time."

"And, then some," the man quipped, offering a grin. "Very well, we shall honor your request for mercy since it is you who have suffered the most. By you I mean your family." The four orbs returned, with another orb they had not left with, a fifth that was now surrounded by the others. Smaller, but just as bright. The Patron who had been speaking went over to the others, joined them in encircling the smaller one, and then they all illuminated brightly, seemingly becoming one large sphere of white-gold light. So bright was it that Ro had to avert her eyes and turn her face away, the illumination lasting several seconds before it dissipated. Standing where all the orbs had been were the Q, all back to an organic appearance of their choice. The fifth sphere that had returned with the others was gone, the Patron standing with his back to Ro. He spun about slowly and in doing so the person blocked from view by his body was now visible. Yui stood there and as her eyes met Ro's she smiled and rushed in to give a hug. After a heartfelt reunion they stepped apart and looked to all the Q, even Qeritas.

"Yui Kudo," the Patron began. "You have been returned, no thanks to the Q you have come to know as Qeritas. We are here to pass judgement on her for her misdeeds according to Continuum directives. Do you have anything to say in regards to our purpose here?"

"Leave her alone," Yui said. "She did nothing she can't be forgiven for."

Ro, upon hearing that, gave it a moment of thought. What her daughter was saying was true.

The Patron looked mildly surprised by that. "You don't feel she deserves to be punished for overstepping her authority, which led to your organic death?"

"I don't want to live in a world where people get what they deserve," Yui said, smiling. "When people need to be protected, they should be protected. When people need to be stopped, they should be stopped. What anyone deserves or doesn't deserve is no business of mine."

"Well said, Daughter." Ro responded.

The Patron switched his gaze to Qeritas. "You have wise friends, sister. And, thanks to them, your punishment shall be far less severe. When you finish speaking to them you know where to be next." They all disappeared except for Qeritas, who bent over and took up Ro's saber hilt, handing it back to the Captain as she approached. "Here." Ro grabbed it and placed it on her waistline. "I have made myself organic at the moment. If you care to hit me, then now will be your only opp..." Q stumbled to the left, with Yui catching and steadying her as Ro had slammed her in the face with a right hook. Had she been a real organic Human she would be dead, but her Q abilities prevented that even as she straightened herself up. "Feel better?"

"Not even close," Ro said with deadly calm.

Yui patted Q's shoulder. "Maybe you should go to your meeting and come back. Give her some time. We have to get this garbage scow to M-69 and present them with this gift. I take it the Q already removed all the pertinent data in regards to creating hybrid, metaphysical monsters?"

"We did." Qeritas confirmed. "The rest of the DNA and genetics data is intact. Except yours, of course."

Yui quirked her face at the Q. "Why mi...?" The words died even as Qeritas vanished, leaving Yui to give a frustrated, cynical sigh.

"Now you see why I hit her when I can," Ro said with a grin. "Anyway, let's get this tug moving."

"Captain," Resch spoke up from his station. "Romulan Bird of Prey, Tvor-class, decloaking at the outer marker...They're hailing us specifically. Captain Kudo, Sir."

Loewen had been waiting for any word from their rather unorthodox away mission by Yui. Though it had taken some time to get to this point, it was far shorter than he had anticipated. Sean remained seated. "In case it's a ruse, Mister Resch, request visual communication." The order was followed before Griffon announced channel open on screen.

Ro sat at the helm station on the BoP, Yui in the CO's chair. When the screen came up on the viewport several Bridge officers gave a quirk in their expression. "Greetings, Captain Loewen." Ro said with a smile. "Good to see all of you."

"The feeling is mutual, Captain." Sean said, the joy at seeing them clear on his face. "Our small craft returned from driving the enemy from the field. Your timing is spot on."

"We aim to please," Yui said from the center seat, her own smile matching that of her mother.

Loewen's eyes took in the scene of the enemy Bridge they were on, seeing bodies, pieces of bodies, and body parts strewn about. "I take it it was a tough fight?"

"Not really," Ro said, though that unmistakable mischief was seen in her eyes. "Between my saber and Yui's bad breath we had it under control." Ro began to adjust her controls even as Resch relayed to M-69 that the new arrival was a captured starship with Captain Kudo aboard and returning with a war prize. "I'm going to park beneath Capernum and then recloak. Sending coded coordinates for the transporter room aboard."

"Good idea," Sean admitted. "That would attract a lot of attention and may call for another attack we're not ready for right now. See you when you're ready to beam over. Loewen, out." Sean then ordered Resch to set a beacon for a 2 kilometer no-fly zone around the USS Capernum.

With the away mission back, and the alert cancelled, Loewen set Capernum back to standard operating duties before he got up to go to his quarters for a long overdue break.
