Peel - Meeting Day

Mission: SHAKE DOWN IN A NEBULA
Location: S/M: A New Hope
Timeline: Stardate: 79835.2

S/M: Synopsis: The Peel has been ordered back to the Beta Quadrant. There’s a recently completed Deep Space Colony Habitat in the Mutara Sector situated near the Mutara Nebula. Takara, a small planet just outside the Alpha Quadrant, is dying. Their Government and Scientists have established a deep space colony naming it ‘New Hope Colony’ in an effort to preserve their race. Due to the urgency of the build the Colonial Governor realizes some of his Staff haven’t been trained as well as he had been led to believe. The Peel’s mission is to facilitate more training to help close the gap; as well as circumvent any potential problems.

~Bridge~

The Peel had been in slipstream for about a half hour so they were covering a lot of light years quickly. Captain O'Connell wanted to have some meetings with those who would be helping out on the Colony and now was a good a time as any "Lieutenant SanChez you have the conn, Number 1 your with me" he ordered then rose from the center seat.

"As you wish Captain" SanChez responded moving to the center seat.

~Ready Room~

The Captain and Commander entered the room "Please have a seat at the table" he suggested as he sat himself "I want to meet with a few of the Crew who will be helping out with the Colony just so they're aware of what their assignments will entail."

Shauna nodded and took a seat. “That sounds like a good idea.”

"Actually" then tapping his comm "CPO Jen please report to my Office" O'Connell ordered "Might as well include her in on this."

"On my way Captain" Jen replied as she grabbed her PaDD just in case.

Moments later Yesrin walked in to Office "You wanted to see me Captain" she inquired with a smile "Commander" as she waited for a reply.

"Yes we'll be meeting with a few of the Crew to go over what they can expect when on the Habitat and I would like to take some notes for future use" O'Connell explained returning her smile.

Then tapping his comm "Lieutenants Aloran, Stone, and Albo please report to the Captain's Ready Room, thank you" O'Connell ordered.

Sarissa was already on the bridge so hearing the call she headed for the Ready Room. Walking in she offered a polite smile as she greeted those present. “Reporting as requested Captain.”

Lieutenant Stone entered next seeing those assembled "You wanted to see me Captain O'Connell" Heidi inquired being a little nervous at the summons.

"Yes, please have a seat. I believe you met everyone at the briefing and how are your quarters.....comfortable I hope" O'Connell commented with a smile.

"Yes I've met everyone present. Hi, nice to see you all again. My quarters are quite comfortable and thank you for asking Captain "Stone replied then gave a polite nod to those present before taking a seat."

Minutes later Lieutenant Albo came flying into the Office "Excuse my delay Captain.....I was down in the Cargo Bay inventorying ship's stores Sir" Johan explained before taking a seat next to Sarissa then gave her a smile.

"That's quite alright Lieutenant. Ok now that we're all here I wanted to go over a couple of things. First off Counselor for the duration of this mission I think it would be appropriate to introduce yourself to the Colonists as Doctor Aloran; after all you are the ACMO. Lieutenant Stone you'll be working hand in hand with the Doctor and also retraining the Nursing Staff" then looking towards Johan "Lieutenant Albo if anyone asks your presence is required to lift anything heavy for the ladies. Even though we are going into a friendly situation I would feel much more at ease not to have the Doctor and Head Nurse there by themselves. Carry a phaser concealed just in case" O'Connell explained "Number One anything to add?"

“Just what you’ve already said Sir, as far as we know there shouldn't be any danger, but air on the side of caution. We’ll only be a call away if you need us.” Shauna smiled.

Sarissa nodded. “I have every faith that we’ll be able to handle any problems that might arise. Plus we have Lieutenant Albo with us just incase.” She gave Johan a big smile.

"That's all I have.....are there any questions" O'Connell inquired looking at the group but no takers"Alright. When we make initial contact with the Colonial Governor I'll have a better idea of when you'll beam aboard the habitat and I'll give you plenty of prior notice. Thank you for your time....the there of you are dismissed" he commented before Sarissa, Johan, and Heidi returned to their duties.

Tapping his comm once again "Will Lieutenants Sayvek and Flannery please report to the Captain's Ready Room." Turning to Shauna and Yesrin "One more meeting then we'll be done" O'Connell stated with a grin. Turning to Yesrin "Were you able to get any intel on the Colony?"

Shauna nodded offering a smile.

"My sources weren't able to provide anything more than what we already knew" Jen replied.

"I suppose no news can be good news" the Captain stated with a chuckle "Thank you for checking anyway."

"Always Captain" Jen answered with a smile.

" Captain following the events of the previous century Mutara Sector had to be quarantined for a long time. The regeneration process from the Genesis wave appears to have effected the colony. The proto matter appears to have reanimated the colony as well." Sayvek conjectured.

Hearing the explanation from Sayvek, O'Connell commented "Curious.....Admiral Stone led me to believe the installation is relatively new" as he paused a moment "Could you elaborate on how this phenomenon could have effected the Colony."

" By that the colony grew due to the excitement of the area ." Sayvek replied.

Minutes later Lieutenant Flannery hustled into the meeting "Apologies Captain, I was in the middle of something when you called" Marcus explained trying to catch his breath.

"No problem Lieutenant, this won't take long anyway" O'Connell replied remembering how busy it could get in Engineering.

“If memory serves the Genesis wave created a very unstable planet, which eventually exploded.” Shauna added. It wasn’t a fact Shauna herself recalled, but more from the memories of Vehn.

" Ceti Alpha 5 and 6 exchanged orbits actually. As for this colony it amazes me that it was able to thrive." Sayvek added.

"Thank you both for your explanations.....it's been many years since my Academy days" O'Connell admitted with a light chuckle "But back to the point at hand. Lieutenant Sayvek the colony has a few, for the lack of a better word, farms where they grow fresh fruits and vegetables. It seems they are having some issues with growing so that's where you come in. Help them come up with a way to be successful in their endeavors. Also, since you've brought up the point, initiate some scans if you can to see if this phenomenon is still prevalent."

" Thank you for this opportunity Captain. I will endeavor to do an efficient job. I have already begun my study of the genesis phenomenon. " Sayvek replied.

"Lieutenant Flannery, although the Admiral didn't mention anything in the way of problems with Engineering, take one day and see how they're doing; since we're here anyway" O'Connell ordered.

"Sure thing Captain; I've never been on a deep space colony before so this should be interesting" Marcus replied with a little excitement in his voice.

"Alright then. CPO Jen will be coordinating your days to be on the Colony; if you feel you need more time there then please by all means let one of us in command know. If there aren't any questions then you two are dismissed" O'Connell stated.

Looking to his Number One "Commander I would like to meet with Lieutenant SanChez for a few minutes if you'd be so kind to take the conn and send in Maria; this shouldn't take long."

“Of course Captain” Shauna nodded and rose from her seat to go and take over.

Several minutes later Maria popped her head in the open door "You wanted to see me Captain" she inquired as she stepped through the door.

"Yes Lieutenant, please come in and have a seat" O'Connell ordered with a smile as Maria sat per his request. "I would like you to coordinate with Captain Hunt on his Marines accompanying yourself down to the Colony. Your task is to help bring their security up to speed as far s their duties and efficiency. CPO Jen will let you know what day you'll be beaming down and if you find yourselves needing more training time please let me know."

"As you wish Captain. Hunt, along with his Marines, and I seem to work well together so this will be no different" Maria replied.

"Yes and from what I've observed the collaboration between the two departments are a real credit to your willingness to go above and beyond coupled with your exceptional leadership skills" Jamie replied with sincerity.

"Thank you Captain. That means a lot coming from you Sir" she responded pleased he recognized all her hard work.

"Ok. Any questions or concern about your orders" Jamie inquired.

"No Captain, it's pretty much cut and dried" Maria answered before continuing "Thank you Captain for your continued confidence in my abilities."

"You've more than deserved the accolades. Dismissed" Jamie stated as they both stood with SanChez returning to her duties. Now that the office was empty Jamie grabbed a quick water before returning to the Bridge.
