Peel - Tricky Assignment

Mission: STELLAR NURSERY
Location: S/M: A Living Nightmare
Timeline: Star Date:79586.3

Synopsis: The Peel has been ordered to the Beta Quadrant, Titus Sector, to a planet called Alben to extract a deep cover Operative for Star Fleet Intelligence. The extraction is crucial which will provide Star Fleet Intelligence with vital data in order to shut down a weapons operation, once and for all, that could effect the entire Quadrant. The Crew must face a new reality when they hear and witness things that the mind couldn’t even imagine.

Captain O'Connell was finishing going over a few reports when his comm went off "O'Connell, go ahead."

"Captain the Admiral wishes to speak with you Sir" Communications stated.

"Please send it to my Ready Room" O'Connell ordered. Moments later " Admiral what do I owe you the pleasure."

"Captain how's the Station coming along" Admiral Stone inquired.

"It's getting there Admiral but still some ways to go" O'Connell replied then continued "Why do you have something for us Sir."

"Actually I do" Stone answered then went into detail concerning their upcoming mission "The reason I'm sending you is due to your slipstream capabilities since it's in the Beta Quadrant. Now they can't know the reason for your Ship being in the area so you'll have to fake warp core problems while the extraction is taking place. Once the extraction is accomplished I want you to get the hell out of there before they're any the wiser. This is a very important mission Jamie and the extraction of the Operative is paramount; I'm depending on your Ship and Crew to get this done as quickly as possible."

"Understood Admiral and we won't disappoint you Sir" Jamie replied with his mind already getting things lined up for a quick departure.

"Good luck Captain and I'm looking forward to the Intelligence people getting what they need. Stone out."

After sitting back in his chair a few minutes to digest all of the information given to him he tapped his comm "All Senior Staff please report to the Briefing Room immediately" came the order as he grabbed his PaDD and headed that way.

Walking in he grabbed a coffee and waited for everyone to arrive while bring up a map of the Beta Quadrant on the wall mounted screen.

Walking into to join Jamie, Shauna gave the map a curious look wondering what they were heading into. “Captain” she smiled warmly as she took her seat. She had to admit she was little nervous this being her first time out as XO of the Peel.

Next to arrive was Lieutenants Jen and Flannery "Good day Captain; your call sounded urgent" as Marcus sat in his usual spot now that he was considered a part of the Senior Staff. Yesrin followed suit.

Sayvek was next to arrive and found a close seat.

Soon Lieutenants Albo and Aloran arrived together was per usual "Captain, everyone" as Johan gave a nod of respect to his fellow Officers then sat.

Sarissa smiled warmly, offering Shauna a warm smile as well. She was sensing an air of slight unease in Shauna, not unusual for a new First Officer on their first assignment on a new ship.

Last to arrive was Lieutenant SanChez as she hurried into the room "Sorry Captain, you caught me at an awkward time....hope I'm not late" Maria stated not wanting their Second Officer setting a bad example for the rest of the Crew.

“You're fine Lieutenant” Shauna offered a polite smile, before looking to Jamie for his response, and update on their mission.

"Ms. SanChez you're not late; everyone else just arrived quicker" Jamie stated with a grin "First off, for those of you may not know, this is Commander Shauna Vehn our new First Officer who's replacing Commander Angel Devroe who incidentally replaced Commander Vehn as First Officer on M-69; please make her feel at home here when you get the chance." Jamie concluded.

"Now onto business" as he enlarged part of the Beta Quadrant map "We've been ordered to the Titus Sector to a planet called Alben to extract a deep cover Operative, cover name MJ, for Star Fleet Intelligence. The extraction is crucial which will provide Star Fleet Intelligence with vital data in order to shut down a weapons operation permanently which could affect the entire Quadrant. From what Admiral Stone told me this is a very rough and unforgiving planet with it's male inhabitants doing pretty much whatever strikes their fancy" the Captain explained when he saw Yesrin sitting with a look on her face he'd not seen before during a briefing.

"Lieutenant Jen you look like you have something to add...so please by all means" O'Connell commented.

Yesrin sat for a moment when she sensed Jen's thoughts [You better tell them what you know about that place] "Captain if I may" then she looked around the room "I don't know if any of you believe in a hell or not BUT Alben is about as close as you can come to a living hell. Their society is very male-centric so they do what ever they feel like to woman physically, mentally, and emotionally" then she paused a moment to collect herself "I was part of an Op there five years ago and swore I would never step foot on that wretched planet ever again but now duty calls" then looking at Jamie "Captain I would like Lieutenant SanChez to accompany me on this Op given her talent for ground assault and hand to hand combat.....also I would highly recommend having the Marines on standby in case we are overpowered by the inhabitants" then she paused "Of course we will go in under the cover of night but we still may run into resistance" Yesrin concluded.

Taking everything all in O'Connell looked to Maria "You good with this Ms. SanChez" he inquired.

Glancing towards Yesrin with a wink of her eye "Absolutely Captain....Lieutenant Jen should not go alone on this one from what she's told us.....we'll bring the Marines up to speed on the Op as well" she stated more than ready to kick some chauvinistic butt.

O'Connell stood for a brief moment after hearing how Yesrin explained the planet as well as her general demeanor "Honestly I had no idea it was quite that bad there" then looking towards Yesrin "Whatever you need for this Op to be successful let me know and we'll make sure it happens" referring to himself and his new Number One "Any questions?"

“Do we know any further details from Starfleet, or do we get just the short and sweet version?” Sarissa asked as she looked between O’Connell and Vehn.

“That’s a good question” Shauna added. “We all know that Starfleet Intelligence tends to keep information close to their chests.”

"Probably the short version.....that's about all the information the Admiral gave me which is most likely all he was told" then Jamie paused "Against my better judgement this will have to suffice for now unless more information becomes available. Then turning to Sayvek "When we arrive can you initiate some scans of the planet without them knowing we are doing so" O'Connell inquired.

" Yes I can. There are piggy back scans that will give us some readings." Sayvek replied.

"Excellent Mr. Sayvek" then looking to Marcus "Lieutenant Flannery when we arrive I need you to make us appear to be having warp core problems while the Lieutenants are initiating the extraction to give us a reason for being parked over their planet" O'Connell explained.

"No problem Captain, we can expel a little plasma from time to time; that should do the trick" Marcus replied.

"Good. Utilizing slipstream we should arrive to Alben in or around zero twenty three hundred. In the meantime Lieutenant Jen please reach out to your contacts and see if you can acquire any more information on the planet. Lieutenant SanChez you and Ms. Jen bring the Marines up to speed on the Op and/or any special equipment they might need.....inform them they'll be in standby mode" O'Connell ordered "Any more questions." Looking around the room no one offered any more questions "Ok, you all have your assignments; Number One please hang back a moment. Dismissed."

After the room emptied out Jamie looked at Shauna "So Number One any thoughts or ideas " the Captain inquired eager to get her take on the mission.

“Have I said how much I hate Starfleet Intelligence missions?” Shauna gave him a wry smile. “Actually I would prefer to know exactly what we’re getting into, just incase anything goes wrong. The plan is a sound one, and I hope we don’t have any problems.”

"I'm not crazy about this type of mission either" O'Connell replied "But orders are orders" as he paused a moment "The fact we have a really good Crew who aren't afraid to work together as a team is probably what's going to get us through this with a positive result."

The two Officers left the Briefing Room and headed to the Bridge to get underway hoping this would be a safe and have a positive mission outcome.
